Surface cleaning & descaling with a shot blasting machine

Surface cleaning and descaling is the first job most plants ask a shot blasting machine to do. High-velocity steel shot or grit breaks mill scale, rust, weld spatter and shop contaminants off the parent metal without grinding every face by hand.

The aim is a repeatable, inspection-ready surface — not a one-off polish. Once the scale is gone, coating, welding, machining or assembly can start from a known baseline instead of from whatever arrived on the truck.

Portable, cabinet and room-type shot blasting equipment are all used here. The right format depends on part size, how much steel you process in a shift, and whether the work stays on the shop floor or has to travel to a structure.
