Product details

Overview

Silicon Carbide (SiC) is a very tough and long-lasting material, one of the most abrasive materials, and the main raw material for the shot blasting machine, sand blasting machine, and other surface preparation industries. It is a synthetic abrasive made of silica sand and carbon, which endows it with high hardness, good heat conductivity, and excellent resistance to wear and corrosion.

It is a blasting media in the sand/shot blasting industries for cleaning, deburring, and finishing the surface of metals, alloys, stones, and ceramics. Compared to traditional abrasives like steel shots, steel grit, garnet, and aluminum oxide, silicon carbide supplies a more sharpened cutting edge, less cleaning time, and longer reusability, thus it becomes extremely cost-effective for heavy-duty applications.

At Micro Blaster, we offer silicon carbide of excellent quality, which is compatible with the airless shot blasting machine, portable sand blasting machine, blast room, tumble blast machine, hanger-type blasting machine, and pressure blasting cabinet.

Where it is used

Applications

Typical process uses for Silicon Carbide across industrial surface preparation.

Rust & Scale Removal

Just as airless shot blasting machines or blast room systems are used for cleaning or degreasing steel used in industries, the process rust, scale, and corrosion layers is carried out by silicon carbide to make the surfaces ready for coating or painting.

Paint & Coating Removal

To remove the paint, powder, or industrial coating, the metal silicon carbide is used, which is suitable for stripping. Hangar-type shot blasting machines and portable sand blasting machines are used for the process of stripping large components.

Deburring & Edge Cleaning

The product is used for cleaning the production wastage formed around the edges of the metal parts. The metal parts formed from castings, forgings, and fabricated parts that have sharp edges are cleaned and deburred precisely with the help of this product.

Surface Roughening for Adhesion

The process of surface roughening is used to make a perfect surface profile that helps paints, powder coating, or galvanizing to stick. A roller conveyor shot blasting machine is used with our product to carry out the process on steel structures and plates.

Stone & Glass Finishing

Abrasives have a significant usage in the three major areas that go by the names of polishing, texturing, and engraving for these products that reveal the likes of marble, granite, and glass, a fine, decorative finish.

High-Precision Polishing

One of the main industries where the application of silicon carbide for the production of very clean and uniform surfaces of the components is the final part is the aerospace sector, besides the electronics industry.
